Operational Telecom Architectures & Network Slices

• 01. 5G SA Core & SBA Microservices: Stateless control plane network functions (AMF, SMF, NRF, PCF, UDM) communicating over HTTP/2 JSON REST service-based interfaces with externalized UDSF state. (Architecture Flow: UE Attach Request -> AMF (Rel 17) -> NRF Discovery -> SMF Session -> UPF Wire-Speed Ingress -> Data Network)
• 02. Open RAN & Converged Xhaul: Disaggregated radio access network: Radio Units (O-RU), Distributed Units (O-DU), and Central Units (O-CU) connected over time-sensitive eCPRI packet fronthaul. (Architecture Flow: Antenna Array (64T64R) -> O-RU -> eCPRI 100G Fronthaul (TSN) -> O-DU (Low-L2) -> F1-U Interface -> O-CU (PDCP/RRC))
• 03. End-to-End Deterministic Slicing: End-to-end resource partitioning from gNodeB radio physical resource blocks (PRBs) through FlexE transport channels to dedicated user-plane UPF instances. (Architecture Flow: S-NSSAI Request -> NSSF Selection -> PRB Dedicated Quota -> FlexE Layer-1 Slot -> Isolated UPF Instance)
• 04. Critical Smart Grid & IEC 61850: Mission-critical 5G slice for electrical power grid protection: sub-5ms GOOSE multicast packet delivery, IEEE C37.118 PMU telemetry, and IEEE 1588v2 PTP time synchronization. (Architecture Flow: Substation Sensor -> IEC 61850 GOOSE Frame -> 5G URLLC Dedicated Slice (5QI 82) -> Fast Breaker Tripping Relay)

Telecom Stack Infrastructure & Control Envelopes

• Layer 1: 5G Core Service-Based Architecture (SBA) Microservices: Cloud-native microservices mesh executing containerized 3GPP network functions. Features stateless compute logic, HTTP/2 JSON interfaces, mutual TLS encryption, and delegated discovery via Service Communication Proxies (SCP).
• Layer 2: Open RAN Disaggregation & Converged Xhaul Transport: Disaggregated radio access network adhering to O-RAN Alliance specifications. Connects O-RU and O-DU over packetized Ethernet fronthaul using eCPRI framing with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN IEEE 802.1CM) deterministic timing.
• Layer 3: End-to-End 3GPP Slicing & Accelerated User Plane (UPF): Line-rate packet forwarding utilizing Vector Packet Processing (VPP) and DPDK kernel-bypass drivers. Guarantees deterministic Quality of Service (QoS) and strict physical resource block (PRB) isolation across multi-tenant slices.
• Layer 4: Mission-Critical Power Grid & Substation Automation: Deterministic ultra-reliable low-latency communication (URLLC) slice dedicated to electrical utilities. Complies with IEC 61850 GOOSE/SV messaging and IEEE C37.118 synchrophasor streaming for power grid fault isolation.

Carrier-Grade Telemetry Benchmarks: 0.85 ms (5G SA Core Latency) | 200 Gbps (User Plane Speed) | < 30 ns (Fronthaul Timing) | 99.9999% (Grid Reliability)
